Overland Park is the second-most populous city in Kansas, located in Johnson County about 13 miles south-southwest of downtown Kansas City. William B. Strang Jr. began platting the area in 1905, and it was incorporated as a "city of first class" in 1960. It's now home to roughly 197,200 residents (2020 Census) across more than 75 square miles.

Because of its size, Overland Park is served by four public school districts: Shawnee Mission (generally north of I-435), Blue Valley (generally south of I-435), Olathe (western Overland Park), and Spring Hill (the extreme southwest edge) — plus more than a dozen private and parochial schools.
