Welcome to Overland Park
The second-most populous city in Kansas
Overland Park is located in the northeast of Kansas and is a suburb of Kansas City. As a suburb, Overland Park is surrounded by multiple other communities that offer unmatched diversity. Much of Overland Park lies in what’s known as the Shawnee Mission.
William B. Strang Jr. founded the city in 1905 along an old military roadway that is now its thoroughfare. By 1960, Overland Park was dubbed a “city of first-class” and has grown exponentially since. In 2008, an annexation attempt by Overland Park caused state legislators to amend state laws concerning annexations to require a majority vote.
Overland Park is home to many architectural styles, including Craftsman and Modern, ranging from mid $200,000s to upwards of a million dollars in price. Ranch-style and split-level homes are also popular in the area.
